1. To be eligible to apply for a real estate Salesperson License, an individual must be a citizen of the United States or a lawfully admitted alien, eighteen (18) years of age or older and a legal resident of Texas.
2. To be eligible to apply for a real estate Salesperson License, an individual must furnish the Commission satisfactory evidence of successfully completing the required education:
Evidence of successful completion shall be presented via credit transcript or certificate accompanying an application. DO NOT submit original transcripts and/or course completion certificates. Keep the originals for your personal files and send photocopies to the Commission. YOUR EDUCATION WILL BE EVALUATED WHEN YOU FILE YOUR LICENSE APPLICATION. For a sales person's license you must 210* classroom hours of acceptable credit
(a 3 hour college class equals 45 classroom hours).
The required hours are:
At least 60 "core" hours in Principles of Real Estate
At least 30 "core" hours in Law of Agency.
At least 30 "core" hours in Law of Contracts.
At least 30 "core" hours in an approved real estate core topic.
The
balance of the 210 hours can be additional "core" hours or acceptable
college classes. The Texas Real Estate Commission will need to
evaluate your education to determine which classes are acceptable.
